Happy Birthday to Demarquette Fine Chocolates

On 14th September, Demarquette Fine Chocolates celebrated its 4th Anniversary at Asia House in London, with an event in support of Action Against Hunger for whom Demarquette produce a special charity chocolate bar made with the 3-star gold Great Taste Award winning Vietnamese Ben Tre Chocolate. The celebration also saw the launch of Demarquette’s limited edition ‘Orient Collection’ and an exclusive exhibition of fine Vietnamese contemporary art courtesy of OC EO - www.oc-eo.com.

The Action Against Hunger bars come in dark and milk variants and are available from independent delis, farm shops and fine food stores across the nation as well as online. Multi Great Taste gold award winning Master Chocolatier Marc Demarquette was selected for the project because of his passion for uncompromising ethical sourcing and highest quality. The Ben Tre Plantations Pure Origin Chocolate from cocoa sourced from the southern region of Vietnam was the ideal choice for the project due to its finesse, pure cocoa tones and delightful aroma as well as the plantation’s humanitarian objectives providing employment, education and a secure income to people with deformities resulting from chemical warfare during the Vietnam War.

The limited Edition ‘Orient Collection’ launched at the event was especially created for the anniversary by Marc to celebrate cultural diversity captured by the senses. ‘The Orient Collection’ is exclusively unique and made with the same Vietnamese Ben Tre Chocolate used for the Action Against Hunger Bar. Each chocolate is a respectful tribute to important Far Eastern flavours, symbols and customs as well as Marc’s own roots and ancestry.
The ‘Orient Collection’ consists of 7 unique ganache flavours made and enrobed with the pure origin Ben Tre Chocolate. Both the number “7” and shape of the chocolates have been deliberately selected due to their meaning in oriental culture with the former considered lucky and symbolising ‘togetherness’ and the latter long rectangular shape reflecting longevity of life and prosperity. The flavours are: Jasmine & Matcha Green Tea (2010 Great Taste Award Winner), Szechuan Pepper (2010 Great Taste Award Winner), Pure Ben Tre, Mixed Citrus, Ginger & Galangal, Coconut & Sesame, Lemongrass & Lime.
